The lights are low on purpose. Every exhibit here is something you play rather than something you read about, so the only way to see one is to step inside it.

The Games Wing

Four worlds by Oscar, beginning with the two parts of his Invent series. Walk up to one and its light comes on.

Exhibit I

Invent the Lo Shu

「發明」河圖洛書 · the Invent series, part one

You live in an age that has no writing yet. No good at hunting, you are given another job: keeping the band’s record in marks on the wall. Over three acts you build a language of marks, carry it all the way to ten until the Ten-Number Diagram falls into place, then reach the moment that language runs out. Along the way you invent the Lo Shu magic square yourself.

Inventing the Art of War

The Thirteen Chapters · the Invent series, part two

Thirteen chapters, each one situation, one decision and one consequence. After every battle you write the lesson in your own words, and only then does the game show you Sun Tzu’s original line. By the end, the thirteen lines on your scroll are an Art of War you wrote yourself. Then comes the fourteenth chapter.

Everyone Got Thor’s Hammer

A game about the price of skill

One morning, everyone on earth wakes up holding Thor’s hammer. A week’s work is finished before lunch, and nothing you can make is scarce any more. You play a carver with twenty years in his hands, through six chapters and six decisions about what he ends up selling: his hours, or his judgement. It is a game about AI that never says the word until the last screen.

The Instrument Room

Not a game, but it belongs here: an instrument for weighing questions.
